Lava and Rishop sit inside pine and oak forest on the edge of Neora Valley National Park, and this route is built for people who'd rather walk than sightsee. Expect fewer stops, more forest air, and one very good reason to be awake before 5am.
Overnight train to New Jalpaiguri, then a road transfer through Kalimpong to Lava. Evening at the monastery.
A guided walk along the fringes of Neora Valley National Park through pine, oak and rhododendron.
Early transfer to Rishop for sunrise views of Kanchenjunga, followed by a slow walk down to Tiffin Dara.
Morning transfer to NJP via Kalimpong for the return train, reaching Kolkata by night.
